Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill: A Travesty Against Mother Ocean of Huge Proportions

Posted on Monday 3 May 2010

The Oil Gushing through a massive hole that we have drilled deep, deep down in the ocean floor hit an oil reserve so big and some say it blasted through with such force that it blew up the oil rig and turned it upside down over the hole. The dig itself was on the edge of what we could do technologically, and of course now we do not have the technology to close the hole.

It is gushing millions of gallons of oil into the ocean and threatens to destroy our world oceans if it is not taken care of quickly. This environmental, technological,  and patriarchal catastrophy is said to dwarf the Exon Valdez, which was massive in it’s affects upon the ecosystems of Alaska.

Please grieve with me, and rage with me, and pray with all your hearts that this thing gets plugged and fixed quickly by the little boys who again did not know what kind of dynamite they were playing with.

My young but wise priestess sister Anna writes a beautiful poem to our Mother Ocean:

“In late April 2010, a massive oil spill erupted in the Gulf of Mexico. It’s flow continues to be felt throughout the ocean ecosystem, impacting all the life forms connected to it. As people, we stand in witness of our choices and their consequences. Our society is in the throes of an addiction to oil that does not support life. Let us choose this moment to face the reality of our choices.  It is my sincerest hope that the devastation of this oil spill will be the wake-up call that many need, so that we may move forward in responsibility. That we may walk in beauty, once again.”

Ocean Swimmer

Blood of my body,
waves begin to speak.
Womb of life primordial,
journey to the deep.

Raped in the name of progress,
addicted to your pain,
shadow permeates the surface,
obliterates your name.

We find ourselves at the center,
in the toxic core of choice,
in the heartbeat of our disregard,
will we listen to your voice?

World transforming, dervish whirling,
what we’ve sown is reaped.
Cyclone dancer, chaos swirling,
people in the street.

Changing woman, rainbow woman,
finds perfection in the pattern.
From the arm of the starfish,
to death’s renewing matter.

I share my heart with the fishes,
dead sea turtles on the shore.
Schooled swimmers, now are scattered,
gasping breaths, are nevermore.

From the constellation of my soul,
I share these cleansing tears.
Luminous jewels lost in the ocean,
would, that we all, be made clear.

Creation

Posted on Friday 22 February 2008

I will forge my own goddess in the fire of my need

Unmet by the father-god daddy-world
(call her Kali)
Hammer her curving, open form on the anvil of my power
(call her Hecate)
Carry her close in the medicine bag of my heart
(call her Inanna)
Worship her with love of self
(call her Diana)
Love of life
(call her Demeter)
Love of Earth
(call her Gaia)
She asks no burnt offerings, no fatted calves,
No “Thou shalt nots”
Indeed, she sings to me “Thou shall!”
Oh, truly is she flesh of my flesh, blood of my blood,
Bone, sinew
Never further from me than my heart, my skin
My belly and breasts,
I call upon my goddess, “Rise up within me!”
And, oh, she rises.

A Tribute to Dan Fogelberg 1951-2007

Posted on Wednesday 9 January 2008

As a late teenager and young adult, my fantasy-man was singer and songwriter Dan Fogelberg. We were born in the same unconsious little river town, Peoria, IL, 2 months apart. Dan died of prostate Cancer Dec 16th, 2007. His beautiful and moving songs have soothed me and countless others through our life changes, dark nights of the soul, and lost loves.

Dan, We send you on your way with words from your own song, Icarus Rising. We honor you for your love of our threatened little planet and all that it tries so hard to nurture in Earth Anthem. Both these songs are on Dan’s last album, Full Circle. Got to his official website @ http://www.danfogelberg.com/

Thank you for being the minstrel of peace, passionate love and Gaia-consciousness that you have been all these years.

Icarus Ascending

Soaring alone upon a threatening wind
Just fix your eyes on the horizon
Cut off from everything
you’ve known or have been
I shouldn’t think it’s so surprisin’
Spiralling upward on a freshening lift
Reaching the realms of fleet Apollo
You have been given the most sacred of gifts
You must be fearless now and follow
Chorus
Don’t look down
Though your heart may be weary
Don’t look down
Though your wings are on fire
Don’t look down
Though the night may seem endless
There’s a reason you’re flying
this fast and this far
Let your faith be your strength
And your love be your guiding star
Venturing further than
the length of your sight
Out past the reach of your beginnings
There is a gamble in each
proud act of flight
But the losses pale before the winnings
Circling and diving with this
freedom you’ve found
Illusion blows apart and scatters
There is no darkness in this place
that we’re bound
Love is the only thing that matters
Repeat Chorus
Up…..up…..up…..up…..

Earth Anthem
(Bill Martin)

And we are but an island
In an ocean
This is our home
Third from the sun
Let it be evergreen
Let it be evergreen
And we are but an island
In an ocean
This is our home
Third from the sun

God, keep it evergreen
To keep it ever green
I would lay my life down
And we are but an island
In an ocean
This is our home
Third from the sun
Let it be evergreen
Let it be evergreen

Emergence Graphic

Go.

Go on treasure hunts and look

Wealth and power will be had.

Plumb the depths, turn the soul over and see.

Yet, be warned: there is danger

In the excavation of long-buried things…

Ghosts with wide eyes and quick breath

May shadow hesitant steps through the dim

Light available along the snaking passages.

Ceilings, prone to collapse, may cover

The path back to the surface

With the dirt and dust of ancient knowing.

But do go.

Go on treasure hunts.

Take the arduous journey

Into and through the remains

Carried within: dream songs

And signs lead to the source

The ‘x’ marks the spot, the ‘you are here dot

Of the treasure…

Early exhilaration will speed the dig along.

Focused moves marking nocturnal clues,

Noting interior hints and veins of truth.

Yet, often, muscles will retreat

From the weight of painful fragments,

Soul shards amidst the debris,

And so the spirit slackens.

Nonetheless, please go.

Go on treasure hunts.

Seek Her, the precious stone, weighty

And aglow. She craves the way above

And beyond this dark-hidden lode.

Mine her carefully. Cherish her light.

Temper the strain endured, the labor of her unveiling,

With the immeasurable bounty of her presence

In the life of a hunter of treasures.

Happy SHE Day by Trevor Gray

Posted on Sunday 13 May 2007

  Lips

Today I feel the beauty of a WOMAN, of every WOMAN

HER thoughts, loves and ideas give birth in extraordinary ways

HER smile the sun, bringing warmth light and the fineness of life

HER breath the cool summer breeze, washes delight over my skin

The moon cycles HER depth with a sense of all pounding hearts

Creation the womb of HER heart gives life all I see and love

SHE as creator, lover and the divine all knowing mother

I stand as a man in awe of your gifts

And bow before your light… You are truely beautiful

With my sword of honour and your love deep in my heart

I pave the way for your loves magnificent creations to find home

In harmony and peace I will fight for you and HER to return

It is SHE who I serve…

Today I Honour YOU as SHE, HER, MOTHER, CREATOR and as a WOMAN Living, Giving and Birthing the Love you were born for and will die joyfully giving until your final breath…
